Employee Requirements

  • Upon hire and prior to commencing employment, employees must fulfil the following requirements:
    1. a written Doctor's certification of physical and mental fitness,
    2. a current Criminal Records Check (CPIC),
    3. a Driver's License Abstract (upon hiring and annually thereafter),
    4. a clear TB test, and
    5. a Safety Oriented First Aid Emergency Level Adult Care Certificate.
  • All employees assigned to direct service positions shall possess and maintain the following employment requirements:
    1. a current First Aid certificate which meets or exceeds the level required by the Ministry of Health in compliance with the Community Care Facility Act, Adult Care Regulations and WCB, and
    2. an Unrestricted Class 4 driver's license.
  • Employees shall fulfil the following requirements within three months of being hired:
    1. a General Orientation to the Society (DCLS 101),
    2. a current clear tuberculosis test,
    3. Seizure Management training,
    4. Non-Violent Crisis Intervention Training, and
    5. an Unrestricted Class 4 Driver's Licence.

Procedure:

When an employee is assigned to a Society position and when he/she does not possess the required qualifications, and where these qualifications have not been specifically waived, then upon written notice, the employee shall be required to complete these qualifications within a reasonable time limit in order to maintain their employment. It is the responsibility of each employee to submit official documentation of all of their employment requirements to the Human Resources department. The employee must immediately report any changes that affect the status of his/her requirements (i.e. changes in CPIC, TB test, driver's license, etc.) to the Human Resources department.
