The Mt. Kilimanjaro Climb

Fundraising

You probably know some of the people we support. You may have seen Leigh at local council meetings. Peter at karate and Kathy at the bowling lanes. David and Linda keeping their adopted street litter-free. Jim, walking dogs at the SPCA. Paul, working at McDonalds, or Simon servicing the candy machines at local stores... just to name a few.

You may have noticed them because the one thing they all have in common - a developmental disability - is what makes them seem different from you. And yet you do not have to look very far beyond the disability to see that Leigh, Peter, Kathy and all the people we support are a lot like you. Individuals with unique gifts to offer, coping with particular challenges. People who, like all of us, have hopes and fears, needs that can only be met with the help of others and dreams they cannot fulfill alone.

You may also have noticed that often, they are smiling. They are really happy to be active and valued participants in our community. Community living is a great step forward for our society and a tremendous improvement in the lives of people with developmental disabilities.

How you can help

Support the Life Skills Program

Please help by making your donation today. 100% of donations go directly to maintaining the quality of life for people with developmental disabilities in Delta.

By supporting the Life Skills Program, you are giving a group of 14 people with developmental disabilities a long-term gift of self-reliance in their daily lives.

Thanks to you, they will learn how to use public transportation, make wholesome meals, shop for groceries and budget their limited incomes.

The more that people with developmental disabilities can do for themselves, the less they need assistance from government paid professionals.

Your donation of $25 will provide one hour of group life skills training.

Your donation of $100 will support the program in one of our centres for one week.

Your donation of $500 will pay for over a month.

Your donation of $5000 will pay for a whole year.

Support the Recreation Program

Please help by making your donation today. 100% of donations go directly to maintaining the quality of life for people with developmental disabilities in Delta.

By supporting the Recreation Program, you are giving a group of people with developmental disabilities the gift of happiness, fellowship and well being. You give them the opportunity to get out and overcome their isolation, enjoy fitness and experience things that you and I take for granted. Like all of us, people with developmental disabilities are healthier when they are happy and fit. Physical and emotional well being is a wonderful preventive medicine and reduces the need to access expensive health care services.

Your donation of $25 could pay for staff time to take an individual with both physical and developmental disabilities swimming.

Your donation of $100 could cover the cost of taking a group of people on an outing in the community.

Your donation of $250 could enable a person with physical and developmental disabilities to experience a weekend camping trip.
