Benefits of Being a Delta Community Living Society Member

Being a member of Delta Community Living Society (DCLS) offers you the ability to influence the activities of the Society beyond direct involvement with the people we support. DCLS needs a strong membership base to maintain a healthy Society. A healthy Society benefits us all - individuals, families, friends and the community as a whole.

All Society members can participate at the Annual General Meeting (AGM), helping the Board of Directors set a course for the organization's future. As well, the Board of Directors is typically drawn from members of the Society, since it exists to represent their interests. Our AGM is held early in September and it is during that meeting that elections are held for director positions.

Throughout the year members received personalized letters from our Executive Director that keep the membership informed on a multiple of issues. The issues included:

  • Legislative changes ie the Employment and Assistance for Persons with Disabilities Act
  • Discretionary Trusts for DBII recipients
  • Announcements about government cutbacks and how DCLS will be affected
  • Transition Steering Committee recommendations
  • Proposed DCLS constitutional changes
  • Woodlands issues
