Tony Schmand Memorial Awards
As the founder of the Delta Community Living Society (DCLS), Tony Schmand dedicated his life to improving the lives of people with a physical and/or developmental disability.
Tony was a community-minded individual who had a vision to create a positive environment for people to live, work and be productive. He was well known in the Lower Mainland for his many contributions to the community, but will be best remembered for his tireless role in advocating for people with developmental disabilities.
To honour Tony’s vision and commitment, DCLS created the Tony Schmand Memorial Awards in 1995. Presented annually, the Awards recognize the accomplishments of an individual, or a team of individuals, in one or more of the following areas:
- Personal Achievement
- Training and/or School Achievement
- Community Involvement and/or Volunteerism
- Employment Achievement
Each recipient is recognized at the DCLS Annual General Meeting and presented with a plaque acknowledging their achievements.
