This workshop is for families who have a relative with a developmental disability who would like to find out more about becoming a better advocate for their relative.
Good Advocate, Strong Parent. Parents, siblings and grandparents are the ones who often love, understand and care the most for their relative with a disability. We want the best for him or her and often we find ourselves in a position where we have to speak on their behalf to ensure that their voice is heard and they get the support, resources and opportunities they need to be the best they can be. Being a good advocate is a great skill to have. This 2 hour session will cover some basics of advocacy as well as give participants the opportunity to share their tips and success stories.
COVID 19: DCLS has implemented health and safety protocols based on guidelines from the Office of the Provincial Health Officer (PHO) and WorkSafeBC. Workshop participants will be physically distanced, workshop room will be sanitized, and participants are encouraged to practice good hygiene and to stay home if they are not well on the day of the workshop.
